Is there a thread with all of the manufacturers that will NOT renew?

    Hi all,

I tried a forum search, maybe I didn't put in the right work combo.

Anyways, is there a sticky of all the manufacturers that said they will NOT renew handguns as they fall of the roster?

Currently, the only manufacturers that will not renew or submit for semi-auto pistols is:
    Ruger
    S&W
    sigpic

Could someone please explain this to me? Or provide a link with more info? I'm not understanding the renewal process. Thanks.

For handguns that are already on the roster, if a manufacturer didn't make any changes to their handguns that would warrant them having to be retested for "safety," the manufacturer just pays a extortion renewal fee to keep said handguns on the roster.

You can get the roster here, and the expiration date is listed for each model. http://certguns.doj.ca.gov/safeguns_resp.asp

If you can use Excel, you can copy the roster, paste it into excel, then slice & dice the list however you want to see it.

Bottom line, Ruger and S&W apparently will not renew this year. This means once those hanguns fall of the list from those manufacturers the only way you can get them is through SSE.

And probably then only until 1/1/15 when the nanny state in all likelihood kills SSE.

Hard to believe, but probably true. What a bloody shame.

Plus, I assume that if a manufacturer does not renew a roster listing, and then later wants to put a previously rostered model, with no changes to it, back on the roster, he will have to "spread 'em and assume the position" and go back through the whole DOJ approval process? If so, these two companies, and others, are perfectly aware of that, and therefor might possibly be exiting the Calif. market for good.

In such a case, the liberals' strategy is working. "Rostering" is an absurdity in the first place, but is actually a deliberate strategy.

Is this a ploy by S&W and Ruger to get the roster eliminated? Seems like a dangerous gamble on their part. They will lose a lot of sales when guns drop off the roster and SSE is banned in 2015. Has either company given an official statement on why they won't renew?

They have made some substantial changes to the design, which have to be re-tested by CADOJ. Due to the current legislation, these models will have to have microstamping technology implemented. So far, none of the big gun manufacturers has implemented it. So, SW and Ruger can't physically pass the re-test and decided to let their guns drop off the list. Also, they are letting the discontinued models go off the list, aka housecleaning.
