P220 all stainless is what I prefer. If you are not using it for CCW, get heavy full size gun chambered in heavy caliber.
.45 should be your caliber if you can do fast double taps. I am getting P226 full stainless in 9mm- will compare how much faster I can go back to the target after the recoil. If the difference is huge, I will keep the P226 as a primary HD weapon.
This plan has one bad side- $$$$.$$...https://jpfo.org/articles-assd03/jew-without-gun.htm

Double barrel side by side 12 gauge. Nothing better for the bedroom, no chance for a short stroke pump malfunction, just point in the general direction and shoot._________________________________Originally posted by KestryllYou're boned.

I keep a Glock 20SF with night sights and a tlr1 on my night stand. Of course ill probably never need it with my 3 60 plus pound dogs roaming the house at night."Suck on my machine gun" (Ted Nugent)

Lots of good info here. I like the Dog idea too. I have 2 that always let me know when something is going on. Another thing, if you can afford it, and don't have little ones around the house, hide a few guns in different rooms. This won't work for everyone but you may not be in the right room with the weapon when danger strikes. JMO Love the Dog pics!Comment

+1 for a shotgun.
I believe everyone is a rifleman (or woman) first.
Besides that, I have went from a .45 to a 9mm with a light. I can handle it easier with better follow up shots.
So, shotgun and a 9mm is my choice."Where ever you may be...there you are."

Yeah, I gotta agree. A dog is a much better first line of defense than any handgun. They make noise, and wake you up. And the noise normally deters the professional burglars. They want nothing to do with dogs. Period. And a long gun is a better second line of defense.

That only happens on TV and video games.
Shotguns have to be aimed at the target. In a large room, you might get a 7" spread, maybe. That's hardly pointing in the general direction. There are hundreds of shotgun patterning videos on youtube, check some out.Comment
