    Gun Give away.

A guy on the handgun 4 sale forum just sold an as new Glock gen 4 for $440.00.
I commented that selling a gun that far below market value lowered the value of all guns of this type that are owned by others.
I don't dispute the fact that he has a right to sell for any price he wants, only that it does lower the value of sse gen 4 Glocks.
    Does anyone agree?

I would take the opposite track and point out the ridiculous prices people sell guns for on the marketplace. I pretty much always sell guns for really fair prices, with two exceptions ever in a lot of transactions. I figure why not pass on a good deal, work a couple hours of overtime and then go buy another gun. Just me.
Buying a safe and sane firework is like paying a hooker for a hug. I do not see the appeal in it.

It's a free market. He can sell it for what he wants. He can sit and try and get a better price, or sell it for a cheaper more reasonable price and sell it quickly.

        Either way, his choice.

Supply and demand. Look how quick that glock went. You'd have to sell hundreds of those glocks to start bringing values down. When a house sells cheaply as a foreclosure you don't see neighborhood prices plummet. It takes a significant portion of the market to drive value down. I could sell a glock for $100 and on will still sell for $500 right after.

Currently any LEO/EMS can get a new glock for less than that price. Glock's blue label program has been around for a long time. Still, a used glock usually goes for about $500. Supply and demand dictate prices, not past sales price.

Maybe he wanted to sell it fast with no hassles.

I often decide my lowest price on something, post it for that, and if it sells fine, if not fine. I usually have multiple buyers in 24 hours. This gets it done fast with fewer questions.

Still, he could post it for $100 and some buyers will not be happy unless he dropped the price to $90.

hate to say this but gen 4 glocks are only $425 new if your LEO. It is only market up because it is off roaster. so 440 is not too low, it also have no access like the extra back strap and box, papers. I wish the stupid roaster would die so we can buy guns for the price other are paying.

                        Yeah, move on OP.

That sale will not determine the value of Gen4 Glocks in general.

And with all due respect, you crapped on his thread...

I think it's awesome that he sold it for that much. A single sale will not dent the giant gun market. Seriously, come on now. It is a great deal for some buyer, that's all.
