    New Walther PPQ looks used?

Long time lurker here. Finally purchased my first gun. I purchased a Walther PPQ from Grabagun and had it SSE at a local gun store.

When I did the paperwork, I noticed that there were minor scratches on the slide. Is this normal?

I wouldn't worry about it, probably just had the slide manipulated a few times, by potential buyers...not going to affect anything. Just go shoot it.

I'd expect more wear than the picture shows if it had been fired more than the factory test fire.

It's nothing to be alarmed about. Some of it's due to test firing at the factory. It's possible that the shop you SSE it at played with it causing some of those marks. I've seen it where some workers will bring out a gun somebody's already DROS to show another customer.

The one I got from Grabagun looks about the same. Nothing to worry about.

Where did you single shot it?

That looks like normal factory wear to me. Possibly a little from the single shot process, but nothing that would suggest that the gun had been fired.

I don't know about yours but when I bought my Walther P-99 AS before they called it a AS even though it was fired at the factory and came with a test target it didn't look anything like that.

Mine you couldn't tell they test fired it at all it was so mint in box new.

Frame looks good but you can see the some brass marks on the lower barrel hood and the slide above the extractor.

If you plan on shooting it I wouldn't worry too much, the brass marks can be cleaned up the marks on the serrations I would be a little pissed if it was handling marks done by the dealer.

What did the gunsmith need to do for the SSE?
                      Barrel swap?
Trigger and sear swap to SA only?

Some individuals on the Walther Forums have been complaining about the finish on their PPQ's. Post some pictures so we can see, but I wouldn't worry about it at the end of the day. Functionality and reliability is more important.

Mine had the same minor scuffs and and wear - esp. on the extractor part. No biggie - just wipe with silicon rag and you're GTG.
