Glock 17: Gen 3 or 4?

I know I want a glock 17, and I can get either one. I know there are differences and what they are (mostly), but I haven't had much experience shooting a gen3 17 and zero exp shooting a gen4 17.

So, money not withstanding, would you get a gen 3 or 4 Glock 17?

Nothing wrong with 4s, just a preference.

I just picked up my gen 4 to replace my gen 3 yesterday. I prefer the gen 4 for 2 reasons. The grip feels a bit smaller and the grip texture is a great improvement.

Plus1 with 40calibre, have a G19 gen3(that i love) and just got the gen4. Completely satisfied!

Just depends on if you need an adjustment from the Gen 3 grip. The extra mag with Gen 4s (I assume they're still doing that) makes up for some of the price difference.

Question: Do the Gen 4s still have the beavertail backstrap? A big deal was made about it awhile back. But Glock's site doesn't show them. Are they still there or did they dump the idea?

I have a Gen 4, I say go Gen 3 and buy two mags with the price difference.

Got my Gen 4 in December and no beavertail back straps, for me it's a non-issue. Only issue was with the mag followers. Don't even bother shooting if you get the 2183 followers, call Glock and get the 9mm3's and you'll be good to go.
