    Age of Colt Python

    I have looked high and low and haven't found a listing of the SNs on Pythons made after 1999.
    Anyone happen to know what year SN: PY04xx might fall?

        Maybe the Y is a V? 1978 to 1980 ish ???

        Hopefully a Colt pedigreed calgunner will chime in, or you can allways call Colt and inquire.

          You won't find anything on the net, that is verified, for that year. Mostly older than 1985 here is a good source for Python info and serial number info;

          You can call Colt customer service and give them the serial number. They will give you an "approximate" date.

          COLT'S MANUFACTURING COMPANY LLC
          Tel: 1-800-962-COLT

          If you buy a "letter" they will give you more precise info.

            Thanks

            Thanks - 1911su16b870 and Hawk1;
            I found pretty much the same info -
            I'll be calling Colt tomorrow. I did find the letter price sheet as well - wow - expensive. If this was NIB I'd get a letter, but as it sits awaiting the last few days before I get possession - it is in need of a cleaning. I hope to get someone in a good mood willing to provide a year for the SN at least.
            I'll post the response.

              I'd check the Colt Forum, some of those guys really know Colts and may have the information you are looking for.

                Called Colt Customer Center

                I got a very helpful man at the Colt Customer center this morning and learned that SN: PY 04xx was made in 1992. I forgot to ask how many were made in that year. Doh!

                I may call back next week and hope the guy is polite. I asked if the new Colt Agent would become available in CA - he said 'Sorry, but nope."

                Darn...........

                Take care out there.........
