Next project complete - M11/9

Its ugly as **** but its done. I didnt feel like finishing the rough areas that I ground down. I kind of like it this way. Looks like it was built for a purpose. Accidentally bought semi-gloss instead of flat for the receiver, didnt want to go back. Oh well. lol. Finally have a use for those old sten mags that were in the attick, took me longer to get all of the grease out of those than to build the m11/9.











Taking it to the range tomorrow. Will write up a report then.

uhhh... you did read the part where he said it's a mac clone, right? I think "hitting the paper" is a tall order

Looks good, man. I'll be real curious to hear how it runs. I bought a couple of those kits a while ago and haven't had time to build them.

Considering I need a dremel to adjust the sights (if they are too high - too low im ****ed) I think gettin on paper is good.

It was fun and easy to put together and the feeling of shooting a gun you built is great.

Gonna have to wait. They sent me the wrong firing pin. Didnt notice it before, the firing pin doesnt reach the bolt face even when fully extended. Im going to modify it at work and go to the range on saturday.

Welding the frame together

What kind of welder did you use, it looks like you warped the side plates like i did on my firts one. It was so bad I just cut it into fish weights, lesson learned.
I'm building the same thing again. The TIG doesn't even need any rod added just put it in a jig upside down and use low heat. Lots more control and cleaner looking.

Nope I didn't warp it. I did short beads (MIG). It just looks all goofed up because of the grinding marks. I didn't feel like making it all smooth. It shoots good now. I had a problem with the firing pin being too short but its all good now

I'll post ya a pic when I get good enough with the new tig machine to do my next one.
I got my junk one to feed and shoot but had to really tweak the side plates to get the top end to fit nice. It was just to ugly to keep the frame. Got lots of parts now, it's kinda like a tinker toy addiction.
