The video linked below is worth watching. It features some very nice shooting by a woman and a man, separately, with both a Glock 9mm (can't tell for sure if it's a G19 or G17 but I think it's a 19), and an AR-15. The guy is a highly skilled, possibly retired law enforcement shooter, and the gal is not, but obviously has had some excellent training. It's educational to watch them both shoot.

The video is otherwise extremely interesting because it was done by an Indiana sheriff who is timing mag changes in order to show that the anti-gun movement's magazine restrictions don't make sense. I thought it would be of more interest here, rather than in the 2nd Amendment areas of CalGuns.

It's semi-long (13 minutes) but absolutely worth a look. The Sheriff starts off with basic facts which are widely misunderstood by non-shooters, but the great majority of the video is shooting action.

Bad guys generally tend to follow most laws, so nobody really has to worry since they'll likely have bullet buttons and neutered mags. This makes me feel warm, cuddly, and reassured. Thanks Libs.

It goes both ways, they will just come back say see it doesn't matter so why do you care if they are only 10 rounds.

There is no winning that argument since it is not about what is pointless, it is about control.

The video that helped drive the point home was the one where a father ran out of rounds in a home defense situation.

To the reasonable person, yes. An Anti they would look at this viedo and say, "so why are you complaining about lower capacity magazines if it's the same thing?"

Found it interesting that both shooters, while blasting away at multiple assailants as fast as they can in the heat of battle... never empty their mags before mag changes.

Whoa, wait, don't you have the blue ammo barrel at home? That's one of the first things you do when setting up your home defense plan. I have a blur barrel in each bedroom, wither with 6 magazines on them, or several revolvers.


Good video, showing that the 10 round mag restriction is just idiotic political maneuvering. The video also points out that it doesn't matter if we are limited to 10 rounds. So the video kind of goes both ways.


But as I pointed out, they are not shooting to slide lock, which, in an adrenaline soaked incident, most people will shoot their guns empty. Loading a revolver without moon clips or a speedloader (or a spare revolver) must be horrible (like the CHP shootout, the reload cost a Trooper his life).

Yeah, this video is confusing, I mean you can take away several things from it

1) Why are you restricting capacity to 10 rounds, it's a pointless stupid law

OR

2) Why are you complaining about the 10 round restriction, you can see that you can reload just as fast with just the 10 rounders.


So ... uh, what is the actual point? I believe the video is saying point number 1, but I can see point number 2 being used as well.

Throw in an empty slide-locked gun and things change and you can see that the 10 round mags might cost you your life if you don't hit your target in 10.

I question your ideas of "highly skilled" and "excelent training."

He is ok, she is not even really aiming at the targets, just waving back and forth while firing around each one.

I would have liked it better if the guy had shot faster with the 15 rounders. There is no way to shoot faster with 2 mag changes than with 1. Just common sense. Would have liked to see his best in all scenarios.
