    Help with the 1911 bug.

    Im infected.
I got infected via a youtube video of a wilson combat.
After about 7 days with lack of sleep i decided (realized) I cant spend as much as those cost. But I can spend about half. Which should allow me to get something nice. When I was looking at WC i was looking at the CQB compact. In 9mm.

Im looking for a pistol I can take to the range but can use as carry gun in the future.
I do mean to shoot it plenty and dont yet have a reloading setup so 9mm is my caliber of choice.
I was looking at pictures of a Kimber warrior last night and was dripping saliva non stop. But that only comes full size and .45 correct? =/
    Amy suggestions?
Im looking at something I can buy for $1300 or less

    Thanks

Can you please clear a few things up for us?

Does it have to be in 9mm?

Does it have to have a rail? The Warrior has a rail...

Does it have to be full size?

      Off-roster OK?

What sights are you looking to get?

What other features do you want?

if you are looking for a commander length 9mm you are pretty much limited to SSE unless you go with a 38 super & have in converted.

if you are looking for a full size, government, I would highly recommend that you just buy a basic Springfield Loaded and take the money saved by not getting the TRP (which I expect to see recommended within the next 5 posts) and had it over to a gunsmith and let him tune it properly.

The loaded is an excellent weapon. Should be GTG out of the box. Shoot the ****e out of it. Learn what you like/don't like and get a gun smith or Springfield custom shop to tune what you don't like.
I support the NRA, if you are not in, you can't win.

            Maybe 3 or 4" barrel?
            Off-roster OK?
For off roster ill have to deduct the price of SSE from the pistol price =/ but yes i Can SSE.

I like target adj sights but i can take care of that later.

9mm in JHP's is the perfect choice.

Take a look at the CZ 75.

They are very popular and therefore hard to find though.

                  Thanks for answering.

I am not aware of a railed 1911 in 9mm configuration, so that might be a really tough one to find...

For government size and on the roster, try the Springfield Armory one with target sights (the other model comes with 3-dot sights) or the Kimber Stainless Target II (only comes in target sights).

For 3" barrel, the SA EMP is on the roster. It has 3-dot night sights.

Off-roster, many people have recommended STI. I don't have a personal experience with that brand. I have also seen a Colt Commander (4.25" barrel) 1911 in 9mm, but again, no personal experience with that.

I have the Kimber I mentioned above and I am really happy with it. On many occasions, I have shot the Springfield Armory full size I mentioned above and it is fine. If you ask me to pick between the two, I would pick the Kimber. I heard that Springfield Armory Custom Shop (SACS) is one of the best around so if modifications are in the future, maybe the Springfield is a better choice.

Good luck! Hope this helps a bit.

BTW, I don't think anyone will recommend a TRP - it does not come in 9mm

About the rail, we can leave it off if its that difficult to find.

For the barrel lenght, I may be more prone to get a 4" than a 3" or a 5"
Ill go to youtube and research that Kimber you talk about.
                      thanks

Is it possible to carry a Kimber stainless target comfortably for at least 4 hrs a day? It seems to me that would be too big to carry. But then again I never carried a 1911. I had a sig p229 in .40 that was not too bad when carried with a hybrid holster. Im looking for something in that size.

I can say that I really like my EMP... it's a great little 9mm.
