Vaquero v Gaucho

I have wanting to get an Colt SAA style piece in 45 Long for a while and don't really want to spend $1500 or so for an Colt model. Does anyone have any experience with either the Taurus Gaucho or New Vaquero? I have guns from both companies and have no issue with the companies but haven't played with any of their SA revolvers before.

Any constructive input would be appreciated.

I have the 4 5/8" New Vaquero in .45LC. I wanted a Colt SAA for so long but I am more a shooter than a collector. I always dreamed of a SAA made modern and strong, and that safely holds 6 rounds not dumb 5 w/ hammer down on empty chamber. (That ain't no six-shooter in my book....)
Ruger answerd my dreams (again!) with the New Vaquero. I have not shot mine too much yet, but so far excellent. Mine is beautifully made, so nice I am taking care of it! I'm kinda a Ruger guy (they have earned it!) so I went New Vaquero. I do like Taurus too, but none around when the buy-it-now fever hit hard.

Ruger. I have a New Vaq in .357, excellent gun. Well designed, made, and very sturdy; hard to break them.

I have the 5 1/2" stainless Ruger in .357/.38 and I can't say enough good things about it.

It's built like a tank, reasonably accurate, affordable, and just plain fun.

Oh Ruger all the way hands down. I have a Ruger Vaquero in .45LC. Love that gun. Nice fit, well build, just a real nice revolver.

My wife just had to have one of those SAA style guns and she fell in love with the Vaquero. Its a nice pistol. I have to admit, when compared to the build quality of her S&W 686, it is not quite up to that standard. It feels a little more flimsy and clunky. Don't get me wrong, its still nice, just not as nice as the S&W. Also, on the New Vaquero grips are a little challenging to find. She had to have the pearl type grips and they were no fun to try and find. Finally got a set at a gun show. She has the .357 model.

+1 on the Vaquero. I got mine in .357 to keep ammo costs down and so far it's been a very capable shooter. Nicely finished and solidly made.

Ruger all the way. I have a 44mag Vaquero and a 44mag Super Black Hawk. They're strong as hell. Of all the handguns I have, these 2 get shot the most.

I have a new vaquero in .45 colt, 5.5" barrel, and I love it. It has a balance and feel almost as good as an original colt, and it's trigger is excellent. It is also quite accurate. I can hit the 100-yard gongs at Angeles pretty much every time with it.

The .45 is a lot lighter and has a much better balance than the .357, in my opinion. I reload for it using 250 grain oregon trail cast bullets, which makes shooting it very affordable.

Couldn't resist posting this again, New Vaq in .357. If you want beautiful grips, check out CLC grips, Cary Chapman in SoCal. All he does is Ruger SSA grips, they are spendy but outrageous. These are American holly wood, made an incredible difference in feel while shooting.
