This bag is similar to my Midway bag. The main compartment's flap is a wide flap with a zipper on either side. But if you look at the picture, you can see that you can take a cable lock (like the one that comes with your gun probably) and run it through the hole in the zipper pulls, then through the D ring that connects the shoulder strap to the bag. Voila! Locked dual-zipper bag!

That's what I do with my range bag.

      Voila!

( I personally do not lock my bag, I have a separate locked case for my firearm inside my range bag. )

The MidwayUSA Compact Competition Range Bag is an excellent choice for the money. I bought mine at Midway on sell for $24.99 and have been using it for over 9 months with no issue. It fits my needs, not too big and bulky, but not too small for my Sig 9mm, ammo, accessories, targets and cleaning kits!

I like this bag better and it's less money: http://www.lapolicegear.com/jumbo-bailout-bag.html

The main compartment can be locked by locking the two zippers together with a small lock. This satisfies the law.

For the record, long guns don't need to be locked.
Remember, you can post here because they died over there.

I just use a cheap plastic toolbox for handguns. I placed foam in the bottom and wrap each pistol in an old tshirt and pile them in.

Also note, that the law says "lockable"..... not locked....

The toolbox has a place for a padlock... so it's "lockable".

I don't think that would pass muster - I could stick my whole arm in the main compartment of the bag when locked like that.

Yes, I am fully aware of that mej16489. My previous comment was pulled from a pm I had with the OP earlier. I personally do not lock my range back, but rather keep my firearm in a locked case inside the bag.

I found an old thread of yours where you showed your range bag, MidwayUSA Compact Competition.

I was in the market for one and wanted to ask, if the main compartment is lockable with a lock.

                Thanks!

There are 2 zippers with a velcro strap in the middle, and a steel ring on the side for the shoulder strap.

I secured 2 small locks (same key) from the zippers to the side ring as shown below.

I attempted to mess with it and see if the bag was still accessible, the only thing I could get into was a hole where the velcro was. From there it appears that only small items are at risk, but nothing near a full case of ammo or a firearm secured in a case.

Now however, if one was to place firearms, ammo, and/ or other accessories all separately and loose? then it would probably be possible to pull then out through the fist size hole regardless of the locks.

                I hope this helps you

                Travis-

Yes. It is true snapshot7 was only helping me out. After his help and tip it looks like I no longer need to lock the main compartment.
