    Shield has unsupported chamber

The shield is a 9mm version only, the ammo is a regular load, not +P or +P+, how about .40?
That is why .40 shield ever happened burst chamber.

Pull the barrel and drop a case in and show it in a pic if you don't mind. I'd like to see how much of it is actually unsupported.

What is a "regular load" ? Was it a reload? If it was factory, what brand etc? Like dannicus said, the only way to tell how supported/unsupported a chamber is, is to remove the barrel, place a round in the chamber and look at the feedramp area. Take a picture of that & post it here.

There's no way the chamber support of the Shield is as bad as that picture makes it look. That round had to be hot enough to make the slide unlock early, causing that "smile" to happen so far up the case.

        +1 to what's been said.

BTW showing that casing is not proof.

Lots of people say they are a 'loose supported' chamber, but this pic looks unsupported to me - or maybe somehow unsupported on the bottom

Purchased a 9mm Shield about a week ago which appears to have a seriously miscut chamber. +p federal 124gr HST are bulged to the point you could expect case separation. It looks like they cut the feedramp up into the chamber too far. Waiting on a label to send back to S&W. Anyone else had such a...

another one, seems it is not unusual, you guys can google, will find out..

the brass is the one comes with shield in the factory box, so it should not be a reloaded round.

Well, judiging from the brass you've shown, the pics others have provided, I'd say ?? on how that mark got created. My Shield has never marked any of my brass like that. Looks to me like it could've come from the Sig or the Beretta barrel.

Interesting. I'm in the market for a shield. Is this by design or just a defect because they are trying to crank out guns to meet demand?

From those pictures, all the barrels look to have pretty equal chamber support. None of them appear to have inadequate chamber support.

OP, all barrels are different, so we still need to see your chamber at the feedramp (with a round in it). Since the brass in the picture you posted is the test fire case, I have to ask, have you shot the gun yourself yet? What kind of ammo? How many rounds? Did you check the brass? What did it look like?

Maybe the test fire round was a proof round. I wouldn't think it would be, but it might explain it.
