    Magazine Question

Can a gun that uses 18-rd magazine ALSO use a 10-rd mag? I'm thinking about FFL this CZ 75 SP-01 that currently uses 18-rd from Hyatt Group in NC to CA and use it with a 10-rd mag.

    Magazine Question

You'll have to modify the 18 round mag to make it 10 by adding a block and epoxying it in if u want to bring that mag into ca.

    Or u can buy 10s.

No...I mean like DIRECTLY swapping a 18-rd mag for the 10-rd mag, just like the way rifles work. You can't use a 20-rd mag in CA so you swap it with a 10-rd. Can you also do that with handguns?

Yes. The magazines external dimensions for pretty much all handgun magazines are identical - you can swap them out just fine.

        Legally is something else entirely.

Is that what you were looking for?

I have a perfect Burning Man attendance record: zero.

You do know there are more guns in the country than there are in the city.
Everyone and their mums is packin' round here!
        Like who?
        Farmers.
        Who else?
        Farmers' mums.

Yes, that model actually comes in a package that includes 10 round magazines, that is the sku 01152, the CA compliant version. It is my understanding, when the sku is specified on the roster, it needs to match the product being registered. The sku of the gun you referenced is 91152, includes 18 round magazines and is not CA compliant. In addition to getting magazines blocked, some FFLs do and some don't(in which case you just lose out on the mags), you need to have the gun SSE'ed. By the time you add up all of the fees and extra cost of SSE and 10 round mags, you are much better finding this gun locally, then again, good luck on that.

            Perfect. Thanks Pal.

I really wanted a CZ 75 in 9mm with rail for a long time. My LGS was never able to get it from his distributor, and if he did, he only had it in .40 cal which I did get one already. I just found one with the Hyatt group in NC, but it's in 18-rd. Being a new guy to gun, I just want to make sure that the magazines are indeed compatible in terms of swapping them. I've checked with the store and that they said it's perfectly ok. Just to be sure, I check with you guys too.

            @Scott,

Oh...wow... I didn't know about the SKU. Thanks for the info. Guess that one isn't CA legal either.
