    Question about SSE.

I know there are a ton of theeads but just wanted to go over the steps. I would like a Shield (as does everyone else) but if I find a Shield from a dealer that ships to Cali what are the steps.

Dealer ships to SSE FFL such as Rifle Gear
    Rifle Gear changes to SSE
    I accept the SSE pistol
Pistol goes thru dros and 10 wait
After 10 day wait I accept the pistol and take possession.
Rifle Gear changes pistol back to stock
    I take pistol home.

Just want my ducks in a row.

    Thanks guys

You need to contact the CA FFL dealer you want to use that does SSE and confirm they do SSE mods on the handgun you want.
Depending on the type of handgun, they may or may not have the parts available.

After the transfer (4473/DROS/10 day wait), you return to the CA FFL dealer and exchange the SSE parts for the stock parts, which you use to change the pistol back into the stock form. Legally the CA FFL dealer can not do it, you must do it.

Is there an increased fee to do this?

It depends on the store. Some charge extra, some don't.

It cost money to create the kits to do SSE and most dealers don't have unlimited kits.

If the pistol is being transferred through me I charge $100 total. This includes DROS, transfer fee and SSE fee.

Because the ones that are on the Roster of Handguns Certified for Sale are currently not available and S&W does not have an ETA on when they will be available.

How much do most dealers charge for Transfer, SSE, and dros together?

It's up to each individual dealer. Post in the FFL forum if you are looking for a local dealer.

Looks like I know where I'm going. Pretty close too, I'm in the IE as well. So when I'm ready, just send you a PM?

Yup and understand it's not an instantaneous DROS. Chances are there will be a waiting list do you may have to wait a week or so.

I do it in theorder that I receive the gun, not necessarily who contacts me first.
