I have a MP9c and I recently reserved a Shield. They will be falling off the roster in a few months so at least it has some resale value if I feel that I don't really need it but I've shot both and I like both. Never can have too many guns...

If you are talking about the Shield falling off the roster, according to S&W that won't happen anytime soon. Here's their press release, see the fifth paragraph:

Of course we haven't seen any CA compliant Shields yet.

According to Turners, they will have a shipment in this month and I put a deposit down on one so if what they say is true I'll post up what I get.

As long as they don't change the requirements. "as long as no changes are made to those models and the company does not plan to make changes to them for this reason."

Does this mean micro-stamp is not a requirement for the Shield? Or does the CA compliant shield have micro-stamping tech in it?

I own a 9c and the 9mm Shield. I am able to conceal both OWB. The Shield is easier to conceal, the 9c is more fun to shoot. Bottom line is you'll do fine with either one.

Micro-stamping is not a requirement for the Shield because it was on the roster before micro-stamping was required.
