    S&W 14-4

Hey guys, I've recently acquired a S&W 14-4 (for free) from my grandma. It apparrently was given to my grandpa in exchange for some demolition work (grandpa had acces to dynamite, we use to find really old blasting caps and fuses while exploring the house during summer vacation). It's rusty, has a big, ugly, heavy target barrel, and god awful, ill fitting hogue grips. I want to put a factory barrel on in, and find some wood grips. Original isn't necessary, actually I like the factory S&W target wood grips. My question is, how do I find a factory barrel, or even one that would work that isn't original? The trigger is superb, the lockup is great, and I hear it used to be a real tack driver. Any suggestions? Does Smith and Wesson even make factory parts for this revolver any more?

You can probably find what you need at Numrich Arms - lots of factory parts. Since it's a relatively recent gun, Smith probably can restore & refinish the gun.

Looks like they only have the 2" barrel in stock. Maybe make it a snubby? On the other hand, hogue seems to have a very large selection of grips that I like a lot. I guess I'll give S&W a call, see what the y have to say about refinishing. Thanks for the reference!
