Smith J frame, over torqued barrel?

So I picked up a pre-lock 640 today, and i'll be damned if the thing doesn't shoot three inches right at 21 feet. Had a couple other guys try it, with the same results for everyone. When we looked at the front sight we all realized the damned barrel looks like it's just a mo hair out of true. Is this a gunsmith fix or do I need to call S&W. The laser grip, that I bought the gun for, works just fine after we sighted it in separately. Any ideas guys?

Well you can send it to Smith & Wesson and be prepared to empty your pockets since the guy who had it before you probably messed it up, or you can send it to a gunsmith who can do some other things for you too, smoother trigger pull etc. either way your looking at a slow turn around, probably slower if you send it to S&W

Actually S&W has a good turn around time Call or email for a RMA. Ship it just as they state, S&W firearms are limited lifetime warrantee so you may very well get the work done for free if it appears to be a S&W manufacturing problem.

Recently had a 442 with the same problem that had three owners and non of them ever had any work doe to the 442 the first two sold the 442 for the same reason wouldn't shoot straight.
