Norinco 1911 Value ?

My brother has a Norinco model of the 1911
He is not selling it, I was just curious of the approximate value.
It is 98% condition, I have installed a Wilson Beavel tail GS, Commander Hammer, Extended thumb safety,
Wilson SS FL guide rod/Buffer and CM Trigger/Sear.
It functions 100%, has never had a single malfunction.

Norinco 1911's value has been going up, if it's stock and at 98% i would say $500-$550. Some times you'll find them on gunbroker for $400 ish, however it's not on the CA gun roster.

I recently missed a factory stock w/ box and papers the guy was asking $450.00... I didn't ask what the final price was...

For a non messed with mint example close to $500 can be possible. $400 seems fair these days. My dad paid $450ish for one recently, I felt that was high but he had extra cash and wanted it, one of the few times me or him have paid full value or over for a gun I feel.

I have 2 of these guns, excellent guns, excellent 5100 tool steel, dead accurate and will feed all HP.

These seem more of just a gun that people like to add to a collection then their past use. A decent base gun with good steel to build a custom on. Remember, Wilson did or does work on these guns on a short list of ones they would customize.

I bought one recently for $350. I installed a Ciener .22 kit on the frame and stored the .45 upper bits away. I would rather had just bought a frame to build a .22 shooter but as we know frames are just about impossible to come by.

if your looking to see if it has potential to be a collectible. It's better to keep it stock.

These are utility guns, not collectibles. Go ahead and modify them to your heart's content.

I've owned one for quite a while. There are some samples that have very sloppy fittings, others range from decent to good. I bought it because it's one of the 4 brands Wilson would work on. However I ended up using a local smith after 6 months of shooting it. Funny thing is that I called Yost to see if his shop would do work on a Norinco, and the answer was "NO!!!".

As for the value, the modifications you've listed would add little to the value of the gun itself. I would guess that $4-500 would be a fair value for it. It does require significant amount of work to realize its potential.

alot of gun shops do not work on Norinco 1911s is because the steel is too hard on the Norks, they will need expensive high carbon steel tool bits to work the Norinco. all other tools will break on it's 5100 steel.

when it comes to 1911s, there is no better steel than the Norinco

It does require significant amount of work to realize its potential.

Norks do not need any smithing, it's 100% right out of the box. However they're not race guns, and if you want to dump a bunch of money into it you'll have a GREAT gun.
