    Ruger LC9 finger slap

Has anyone had a problem with really bad trigger finger slap when you shoot your LC9? I shot mine last night for the first time and my finger was bleeding after only 25 shots.

    It's a brutal little gun!

The trigger is not great but I haven't had any trouble. Probably did nearly 100 rounds last weekend. Used two hand grip and (mostly) single hand grip.

of all the issues with Ruger, trigger slap is not amongst them... I would suggest a call to ruger Customer Service
Rule 1- ALL GUNS ARE ALWAYS LOADED

Rule 2 -NEVER LET THE MUZZLE COVER ANYTHING YOU ARE NOT PREPARED TO DESTROY (including your hands and legs)

Rule 3 -KEEP YOUR FINGER OFF THE TRIGGER UNTIL YOUR SIGHTS ARE ON THE TARGET

Rule 4 -BE SURE OF YOUR TARGET AND WHAT IS BEYOND IT
          (thanks to Jeff Cooper)

Its not trigger slap. Its the finger guard slapping the bottom of my trigger finger on recoil. Im just wondering if any one else is having this problem and if they found a work around

I have large hands and never had any problems with my trigger finger, I have shot about 3 - 400 rounds.. maybe it a grip problem..
I added the Galloway SS guide rod and springs.. helps a little with recoil..

Im not used to shooting little guns. Maybe it is a grip issue. I thought i was holding it pretty tight. Every shot was painful from shot 1. Ive been thinking about getting that rod and springs for a while

Try using just the tip of your finger to squeeze the trigger, somewhere between the very tip and first knuckle, don't go past the first knuckle on the trigger. With some handguns my finger gets beat up or pinched if I put my finger on the trigger past the first knuckle, it's notably bad on my LCP and LCR. I believe what your talking about is when the nerve in your trigger finger gets (a sharp sting) irritated. Either that or your finger is getting pinched between the trigger guard and bottom of the trigger. Either way by using the tip of your finger it may help, without a doubt it helps me.

Are you flying off the trigger as soon as it breaks?
If so, try keeping the trigger depressed until you get back on target. Then slowly reset and repeat.

That's how I was shooting. Basically the recoil flips the gun back and cause the trigger guard to hit the bottom of my finger. Over 25 shots it caused the skin to pull away from my fingernail to the point it was bleeding.

I tried also shooting with the trigger at the knuckle, but that was even worse lol.

No I pull it all the way to the back and dont release until after recoil.

Next time I go shoot it I think ill try putting a bandaid on my trigger finger to protect it or find a thin leather glove to wear.

I got the gun due to its size for ccw. For that purpose its pretty sweet, but I really dont like shooting it.

I would just keep shooting it until you develop an LC9 callus, lol

Or you can wake up every morning, pack your heat, put on your bandaid, then hit the streets

Shot about 100 rds the other day, didn't feel that. Maybe try one of the Galloway precision trigger mods, it might leave less space for guard to slap u. I've got one on order to help get rid of the mile long trigger pull which we hate. They have a recoil kit too as stated above.
