New Sig P238

With the potential opening window for CCW in CA I decided I would jump into the pocket pistol waters. Based on the roster I narrowed it down to the Kahr P380 and the Sig P238. These two also seem to be pretty well respected in the reviews and forums.

I handled and inspected them at the gun shop and was really impressed with the Sig. I'm sure the Kahr is a quality piece, but the Sig stood out to me. The linear smooth action of the slide, the silky mag drop, the feel of the slide catch and safety, the full night sights - all seemed very well engineered.

I followed up with shooting the Sig at my local rental range and was very impressed. Even though the range gun was as dirty as Miley Cyrus, it ran through my box of 50 flawlessly. I expected a lot of snap, but it was not bad at all. The sights were actually useful and I was much more accurate than I expected to be for such a short sight radius and grip. Up to 15 feet I was about as good as my G19, with some degradation at greater distances. Even at 30-40 feet I was reasonable.

So I bit the rather large bullet and made the purchase and will pick up next week. Wow, a mini 1911 for a Glock guy. Don't know when Alameda County will ever get CCW, but when they do I'll be ready.

Which of the 22 available models did you buy? I have the all stainless HDW.

Isn't the Sig single action only? I would never carry a gun in my pocket that way. On a belt holster a different story. FWIW I love my Kahr P380.

Not sure of the exact model name, but it has black alloy frame and controls with the brushed stainless slide and black polymer fluted grips. It has the CA features such as the loaded chamber indicator. It looks exactly like the Two-Tone on the Sig site except it has the black grips.

I've already got some Hogue Extreme Series black G10 checkered grips on order.
