    Sig 229 9mm Conversion

I have been debating purchasing a 9mm conversion for my Sig 229 .40. Several things I wanted to know is would I need to get 9mm magazines, are there any issues with reliability or function with the conversion and lastly if I ever decided to do USPSA/IDPA Production, would the 9mm conversion be allowed or would the officials even know it is a conversion?

I looked on the frame\slide and there does not appear to be be any markings designating that it is a .40cal. The only markings are on the barrel itself. I wanted to stay with a factory Sig barrel rather than a Bar-Sto or other after market conversion.

Any experience or feedback is appreciated.

Unless you use a Bar-Sto barrel, you will need to replace the locking block with one from a 9mm 229 (there is some small difference in the geometry between the two.

I'd recommend using 9mm magazines; however, doing so will make it a little more obvious that the gun was not originally a 9mm, since the magazines would have a little bit of wiggle room in the magazine well.

Thanks for the response. Do you know if Sig will sell the conversion kits with all the necessary parts such as the lock block as you mentioned?
