GOOD San Diego shops? Maybe even SSE?

Do you guys have any shops in San Diego that you really like? Maybe even one that does SSE?

    I've been to

American Shooting Center- Hate the place, will not return.
P2000- Ok to shoot at, not happy with prices of guns.
Discount Gun on Morena- TERRIBLE SERVICE. JUST AS BAD AS ASC. Used to be a member, will NOT return
That place off El Cajon Blvd (Think it says "police" or "security" on it) Meh.

What am I missing out on? Where would you be looking for a new pistol?

If looking for SSE check parallax tactical and the place up in solana beach.

What specifically are you looking for? I buy mostly from Turner's but have also bought from several others. And most of the people at asc are good people. Maybe you just caught someone at the wrong time.

Also check out socal gun, team big shot, and poway weapons and gear.

Parallax Tactical - my go to place for FFL stuff
Team Big Shot - lot's of blem'd JD lowers
      DAS

If you can't find anyone to SSE something for you in San Diego then check with OC Armory in Laguna Hills to see if they can.

DAS in Solana Beach does SSE. Check prices on their website. You can call Wiser Owl in Miramar to see if they do.

Disclaimer: I am a total newb to this world, so take it with a grain of salt.

I just bought my first gun at Socalgun on convoy. They treated me very well knowing I was new and just getting started. My big hobby has been motorcycles for most of my life, and I know many dealerships who treat newbs poorly and take advantage of them. From feedback of knowledgeable friends, it seems socal treated me right, got me a good gun (Glock 22) and a decent price. Being inexperienced, I cant comment more than that, but Ill definitely go back simply for their customer service.
Gun laws do not stop criminals from acquiring guns or gun violence because by definition laws do not dictate the behavior of criminals. The day gun laws stop crime will be the day gun laws do not prevent competent, sane, and law abiding citizens from owning and carrying, as indicated by the Bill of Rights.

I hear your opinion and raise you logic and common sense.

There's an entire thread in the San Diego sub forum on LGS (Local Gun Shops)...

            Lots on the SSE's also

DAS is the shop in Solana Beach that does SSE's - highly recommend them! They know me by name

            Thanks,
            Michael J.

Well, I happen to be a fan of American Shooting Center. Usually a good selection in the consignment case and usually leave you alone unless you're doing something unsafe. Go there on a weekend & you'll see that they are doing something right. There will be a waiting list to get on a lane.

El Cajon Gun Exchange isn't as bad as some say. New guns are generally way overpriced & some of the staff there are a bit abrasive but if you hit the right day you can get a deal out of the consignment case. They kind of moved to the bottom of my list of places to go during the Great Primer Drought of '10. Their "No dogs allowed" policy doesn't help much.

La Mesa Collectibles is an interesting shop. A bit pricey but they have reloading supplies & the people working there are excellent.

Duncan's Gun Works in San Marcos has everything from new Glocks to collectible gems. You can go in there & browse for quite awhile. They're also a bit pricey but I've made a couple of scores there out of the used case. Hugo has worked on a few of my guns. Dog friendly shop.

If you like the cowboy stuff check out Ranger Doug's in Ramona. It's a tiny one man shop but he gets some interesting stuff show up. You never know what's going to be in the case. Also dog friendly.

If you think SoCal is good, definitely try DAS in Solana Beach. They do SSE and very friendly.

Excellent choice for a first gun IMHO.

OP Parallax Tactical in Miramar is my go-to for most things including SSE. Direct Action Solutions in Solana Beah does allot of SSE as well.

DAS and Parallax, they treat you well, Gunthers is good, just no SSE...I feel like the other shops are hit or miss in terms of service and attitude, I've had both good and bad, but DAS, Parallax and Gunthers never disappoint

There is a waiting list because of all they are central enough that all the newbs go there. And some people just don't know any better. The list of people that hate them is a mile long.

Funniest part of ASC, is when you look at their Yelp reviews. It looks like they rate pretty well. That is until you look at the filtered reviews on the bottom of the page. If those were included, that shop would be a C average, possibly a high D.

But I think it was you I was going back and forth with about them last time, too. lol

Nothing but excellent and friendly service at Fine Firearms in La Mesa, so l will second that!

For SSE, OC Armory is the bomb.

Another vote for DAS. They've done a ppt for me as the seller, got a lower from them, did an sse for a friend and they are now doing another sse for the same friend and one for me.
After this I'm done buying except for the M1 Garand (at least for now).

                              I will only recommend Parallax.
