    H&K p2000 & p2000sk

Ok. So I was at Bass Pro Shop this weekend checking out a semi-auto for my wifes small hands. One of the pistols the sales guy showed us was a H&K p2000sk.
    Which my wife immediately loved.
Now, I know nothing about H & Ks, but my initial reading suggest that the are excellent guns, although a little pricey.
So please chime in folks, could use the input.
    Thanks MG

I know HK's. Rented an sk in .40. My hand was right at the point where I didn;t know what to do with my pinky. Grip was a little to small to have them all on the grip but to big to comfortably put under. Love HK. Over engineered, reliable. I tried all kinds of pistols and unfortunately, the USPc 9 fit me like a glove. I wanted to like something a Glock or M&P. Acutally bought an M&P 45. Figured out I like hammer fired and the LEM trigger. If there are any ranges that have them, rent it and let her try it out along with others and see what see feels comfortable with. Lots of reviews on youtube and you can check out HKpro.net. Ton of info there

I have an H&K P2000SK in .40 S&W with the LEM trigger. It has 1,000 flawless rounds through it. It's a great gun, built like a tank, and I love the LEM trigger. The shorter grip hasn't been a problem for me, but I did buy a couple of X-Grips for it, so now I can use the 10-round USP Compact/P2000 magazines with it, while giving me the same grip profile as the P2000. If you don't want to buy one new, you can always get a used one in the Marketplace. They always pop up for sale every now and then, and they always look to be in pretty good condition.

Does anyone know where I can get my hands on one here in Orange County?

Warning---HKs are addictive---you can find yourself swimming in HKs quickly if you have the budget. My P2000 9mm is one of my very favorite pistols---an sk model would be cool too if I find one in 9mm...

We have an HKP2000 in the family. My wife is a revolver gal and I thought getting a pistol that was double action only would be a way of sneaking her into the pistol world. It hasn't worked out well.

It's the one pistol we have where it is almost a guarantee she will limp wrist the gun and get feed/extraction failures.

It was a LEM with the heavy springs, I've changed them out to get the lighter trigger pull. That improved things for my shooting but unfortunately I am still not a decent shot with this gun.

It has GREAT ergonomics and fits very well in my hand. It's a shame I don't shoot it very well.

I've shot both the P2000 and P2000SK in the V3 trigger variant and both were outstanding. I am really hoping HK makes a P30SK though. It's been a rumor for the past year or so and we might find out at the NRA show if it's true or not.

Anyway, back to the P2000 series, they are absolute tanks of pistols with regard to reliability. Sure they are a bit pricey, but on the used market they still command a premium so if you don't like it, you won't have a hard time recouping your money.

The US Border Patrol uses a lot of P2000's, and from what I have read on various forums from the agents that have them issued, they are big fans and have a lot of confidence in them.

              And yeah, HK's are addictive. I own a P30.

                  Thanks folks,
May I assume the most of the HKs you have are SA/DA,de-cocker,and spur hammer.

My first P30 was a V1 "light LEM". It has no decocker and the hammer does not cock back after each shot, but it's not quite a DA only pistol. Kinda similar to a striker fired gun. I wound up not shooting it that well compared to the V3 DA/SA version, so I traded it and now have the P30 V3. My girlfriend bought a P30S V3 for her first pistol. It's just like mine except with a safety. Not sure if they make a "S" version of the P2000.

Pretty sure there are about 6 versions of triggers for the P30 and P2000. Though only 2 are common, V3 and V1 "light LEM".

Here is a list of the different versions from Wiki.

OH I KNOW. I already have MOST of the HK line, but never one of their "sub-Kompacts"

My USP started as a V1, decocker/safety before I switched to light LEM. HK's are worse then Doritos

Ok. Ah how do most of you carry these guns, ie one in the chamber or no.
I'm old school Hi-Power, 1911 single action cocked and locked.

I would recommend your wife try out and shoot the HK P2K SK, before purchasing. It's great that she likes the way it feels in her hands.

I'm a huge HK fan, but she should try it first to see how she shoots with it.

I'd also recommend 9mm version. .40SW may be too snappy for her.

I carry mine with a round in the chamber and decocked. If you get a version with a safety you can carry it like a 1911 cocked and locked.
