    S&W Model 19 grip suggestions.

    Hi folks,

I need to purchase some grips for my Model 19 to use for ICORE shooting. Basically, most grips don't have the left side cut away for speed loaders. I need grips that will work with speedloaders. Does anyone have any suggestions? I really don't want to cut down the rosewood grips that are currently on it.

Hogue grips are hard to beat. Otherwise you're looking at some original S&W Combats that are pretty pricey and hard to find. While the Combat's are gorgeous and fit nicely in the hand, they get a little slippery. My shooter's have Hogue. HTH c good

Eesh -- please don't cut the Targets down!!!

You can find k/l frame targets from the 90's that have a speedloader cutout (not the 'football' relief). But for my money I'd snag either a set of Hogue Bantams or the Hogue Monogrips. I prefer not to have material between my hand and the backstrap -- but then again, I don't shoot ICORE!

I wouldn't dream of doing that to original grips. These are after market grips and I still won't be doing it. Although, I admit the thought crossed my mind for half a second. When c good mentioned monogrips a little light went on. I had forgotten that the gun came with a set of Pachmayr grips on it. I had replaced them because, just like you, I normally don't like having material between the backstrap and my hand. I pulled them out of the closet and sure enough, relieved for speed loading. I don't care for the feel compared to my rosewood grips but, they'll get me through tomorrow!

Thanks for the help and great suggestions. I'll have to look into getting something that will feel good and allow speed loads. The Pachmayr's will do in the short term but, the feel just isn't cutting it. By the way, I purchased the rosewoods at the Del Mar gun show from C & C Global. The picture doesn't do it justice, the fit and finish is superb. The oversize finger grooves rock if you have sausage fingers. No I didn't pay that much for them either.
