    Should I Get It?

    Hey all,

I've been without a .22lr firearm for a long time (~9 months). I just saw that Discount Gun Mart is having a sale this weekend on Ruger 22/45 Mark III's this weekend for $240. This would mostly be used to acclimate new shooters to firearms and for me to just throw 500 rounds down range at half the cost.

Should I pick one up? Yay / Nay?

I highly doubt that anyone will say no. EVERYONE NEEDS A .22 CALIBER GUN/RIFLE unless you have copious amount of money to buy ammo other than .22 caliber.

        For that price, buy TWO!!!!

I dont always fire my Ruger, but it is handy when I want to get some trigger time in without spending money. Plus if you want to introduce someone to shooting, this is the way to do it.

Aside from the LCI, mag disc. and hole in the frame, the Ruger rimfire shooters seem to praise the gun favorably on the rimfirecentral forums. The magazine button is, imo, a great feature on the MKIII over the MK II.

I'd say for $240, it's hard to go wrong for a .22 plinker. Especially with ammo prices, it's a great way to get some trigger time in for yourself too.

P.S. is it just the 22/45 that's on sale?

Yeah, just the 22/45. Else the poll would be a 'Which Should I Get?". That would get a more varied response than 11-yay and 0-nay.

Everyone needs to have at least one 22lr pistol. I love my MKII and will never part with it.

I have no clue what the nays are thinking.

At that price you should be able to recover $240 without any problem, if not more, even after years of use if well cared for. What is to lose? And since you are looking for a learners gun I think this one is a no brainer.
