Thinking about Ruger LC9

Yes, it has a long trigger pull. Yes it is a bit snappy. But those can be addressed with a little practice. I like mine.

And if I ever get the chance to carry, it will be on my carry list.

Got it out of jail yesterday, did the Galloway mods both the trigger bar and trigger. Was lucky to snag these last week when it all of a sudden popped up on the Galloway website, which I happened to be surfing at 5AM. I think that's when Galloway updates the website at 8AM ET/5AM PT so guys wanting to do this upgrade might want to check out early in the morning. The Galloway package arrived the day before I got it out of jail so the timing was perfect.

Iwent to the range, shot about 100 rds. Yep, the snappiness does get a bit of used to, but a little bit of practice I was getting pretty good groups. Overall I like it.

The grip does feel a bit small as I do have big hands though. One person mentioned getting the Pachmayr grip sleeve. They didn't have them at Turners. Anyone know of places in the LA that might have this for a reasonable price?

That was me with the Pachmayr grip, I got mine at Bass Pro in Rancho C. It was only 20 bucks or something like that. it's thicker in the middle making it a perfect fit for my big azz hands. It takes the "snap" out of the recoil.

I pick mine up on sunday. Why did I buy it ? in expectation of acquiring a ccw. It is small and has a profile that makes it nice and concealable. I have another Ruger and every time I press the trigger it fires. I expect this one will do the same. I am not buying a swiss watch. Reading some of the posts it seems people loose track of what it is they are buying and why. Good luck and I think it falls off the 12th.

I succumbed to the "going off list" pressure too (I think I probably got the last LC9 sold in CA -- about 9pm last night). I went in there to get the Kahr CW9 on sale, and watch everyone scramble for the last LC9s. Well, they were out of the CW9s and after the last LC9 had been purchased, and others turned away empty-handed, I was the last one there when they found one more previously spoken for LC9 that had not been DROS'd in time. So after all that, I had no choice but to buy it, right?

Just curious -- Does anyone know what modifications are being done to the LC9 that is causing it to be taken off list?

don't believe it's a modification thing, I think ruger, like other manufacturers is tired of being extorted by the state of California and said enough. they "lose" all the business in California but can now sell to free states that cost them much less to sell in, and can meet all manufacturing demand, which is good business in any book. whiny, stupid Californians continue to insult the business sense of folks that have given up on the Cal market, citing the fact that it's a large market, but what they don't figure into their ignorant statements is what it cost for these manufacturers to sell their wares here. I bought an lc9 a month ago or so and my brother went and bought one of the last 2 at Norwalk turners yesterday. all the haters can enjoy their other stuff, but the ruger is just fine with us.

Due to the falling off the list hype, I went to check out the LC9 just in case I wanted it. The trigger pull is long, but not as bad as it's made out to be. Not quite as heavy as I would of though, just long. But the part that really gets to be is the loooong reset. Pretty much have to let the trigger go all the way back for reset and I'm sure training will take care of it, but wasn't good enough to drop $400 for it.

Add me to the long list of people who enjoy the LC9. Yes, it has a long trigger pull, but it is a smooth one that doesn't require a lot of pull. The fact that you can safely carry it with a round in the chamber makes it a good "either hand" one-handed gun. It is becoming one of my favorite pistols.
