a friend of mine has a wilson combat 1911 in 38 super. and loves it. In fact it's his favorite 1911. I've shot it and it's nice..., but that may be because it's a wilson...

I have a govt model 70 in super...like a 9mm on an overdose of steroids.
I reload, ammo is not a problem & it didn't take long to pay off the reloading stuff, which quickly spread like the flu
I need to get off my rear and figure out how to shoot super in a cz-75.
It's an underappreciated caliber.
You'll love it.

Colt Gold Cup in .38 Super
I've had a Colt Gold Cup in .38 Super for about 9 years, but have never shot it. The original owner never shot it either, so the gun is still unfired. It is one of the "Elite" Gold Cups made in the late 1980s in two tone finish, blue slide over stainless frame.

i built a stainless springer in 38 super and i fell in love witht her round. I do not understand why it isnt the most popular round in america, given ballistics, accuracy, capacity(in high caps) and just overall performance. I used to practice slow fire by shooting golf balls at 25yds in a weaver stance. my opinion is that the only reason to buy a .38super is
#1 you already have a .38 super and are proficent at reloading
#2 you are not legally allowed to buy a .45 acp
realize that i'm a cheapskate

I disagree -- with that reasoning you might rule out lots of other interesting calibers like 10mm...
The .38 Super is a great flat-shooting round, and it is a blast (literally) to shoot. I have a Sig P220 in .38 Super -- sets off a basketball-sized plume of flame with every trigger pull
