    PPT Handgun Frames?

I have a Railed Sig 1911 frame I'd like to sell. No slide!

Are there any limitations / restrictions in CA in doing so?

Sure if you are exempt from the HSD.

            If not then no go.

I sold a frame to a friend last year and he isn't exempt from the HSD. The ffl didn't have any issues with it.

                  Well there you go.

Not sure how they signed off on the HSD.

                      A simple solution.

I've bought 2 Glock frames from Glockmeister in Arizona and had them shipped (free shipping) to my FFL here in Southern California.

What I did was drop off a upper slide/barrel assembly that the FFL installed on the frame when they arrived.

But a PPT would not require an upper. The biggest problem is finding an FFL who knows this. Some FFLs make up rules in their head about PPTs concerning black rifles, SSE, AR pistols and exempt out of state gift transfers from vertical family members.

The PC requires that the HSD with the specific handgun being transfered. the HSD affidavit allows you to do with another handgun of the exact same make and model.

if it is something like a Glock 17 or popular 1911, the gunstore might have a matching gun. but if not, it really isn't correct to use something similar, but that doesn't mean that many gunshops incorrectly deal with the HSD requirements.

When an FFL signs the SHD Affidavit it says:

performed the safe handling demonstration as required in California Penal Code sections 26850,
subdivisions (a) and (b), and 26853, and 26856, and 26859, with the handgun (or one of the
same make and model) referenced on Dealer Record of Sale (DROS) No.
I do not doubt FFLs just sign it anyways but if an FFL chooses not to cross that line it's up to them. After all it is their license on the line for a small transfer fee.

Technically a PPT of a pistol does require a slide on the frame in order to perform the HSD unless the buyer is exempt. This is not an FFL making up rules in their head, they are just doing what the law says which is:

Except as authorized by the department, no firearms
dealer may deliver a handgun unless the recipient performs a safe
                          handling demonstration with that handgun.
And as a reminder this is on the bottom of the SHD Affidavit
I declare under penalty of perjury under the laws of the State of California that the forgoing is true and correct
Don't be upset with an FFL because they follow the law.

I guess it comes in handy to have a good relationship with your ffl.

I guess you can always arrange it with the buyer to sell the gun as a whole and have him return the barrel/slide after HSD. Similarly you can also find a buyer who already owns are 1911 to bring his own side to complete the firearm. The fit might not be great but I think it'll be enough to do the HSD.

I'm actually interested in a half railed frame like the one you want to sell so I can slap my RIA 9mm slide assembly onto it.
