Well you are comparing one of the highest end pistols to a very basic AR. Why don't you compare that same AR to one of HK's AR's and you will find the common denominator.

In an AR you have competition in the manufacture of parts.
Since the blueprints are readily available almost anyone can make AR parts that run the gamut of quality and durability.

I'm building an AR with quality parts and my upper costs as much as the AR you show.

YMMV, but you get what you pay for. Never more and sometimes less.

That was a specail at Grab a Gun that lasted for about a day... it was a little over $800 back in December. The SSE is just happening now, because the show was waiting for a replacement threaded barrel.... their original was broken at the threads.....

Ya, this is just a Spikes pencil barrel 14.5 upper... my last uppers were about $1200 by the time I was done with them. You're right about the mass produced parts though for the AR's... I think my brain is just looking at the amount of materials involved. A handgun barrel vs. an AR barrel etc....

I think the other difference is the simplicity/complexity of the finish machining and the tolerances that need to be held for a reliably functioning weapon.

I would agree that if a HK45 as an example was "clonable" by any brand, and they were made to the same specs... they would probably be $200-$300 less.... like AR's...

You're forgetting to factor in the H&K pricing difference.
Anything made by H&K automatically costs more money, because of the H&K civilian market motto "you suck and we hate you".



FYI.
The MSRP on the H&K HK-45 is $1035.

Yeah. $941 for a P30 is a great price. I just paid $1125 for the P30L last month. It's my 7th HK pistol and I want more.
