    Sig P6 Sight Question

I just picked up a Sig P6 and it seems to be shooting a little low at about 21', the front sight is a #8 and the rear sight is a #7, could this be the cause of it? I've heard that the #8/#8 sights are the right ones for the Sig P6/P225, but I figured they wouldn't install the wrong sights on a police gun? If anyone knows anything about this I'd really appreciate the help.

Gotta say though even w/ that issue it's a nice little gun, ran through 100 rounds today w/o a hiccup, and the ergo's of the gun is amazing.

In general, 8/8 combo is for all 9mm SIGs. If you are having issues with the 8/7 combo, try a different ammo or adjust your sight picture to hit dead on.

    Enjoy!

#8-#8 works better with typical 9mm ammo. The #7 rear will work better with a heavier bullet. Makes you wonder if the "Euro 9mm= higher pressue loads" theory might be spot on.

Either a taller rear sight or taking some material off the front sight oughta see you doing better with it. I held off changing sights on mine until I tested it with different loads (with 147grn JHP subsonics for example).

These are solid black sights right?

Yes they are solid black sights, it's an 1984 dated P6, I was shooting 115gr FMJ WWB from Wally World

Both of my 9mm Sigs, P226 and P6, Stamped steel slides, not SS, are #7 front, #8 rear. Changing the sights to a larger number results in impact moving up, lower number impact down. 1 number on rear sight= 2" at 25 yards, 1 number on front sight = 1" at 25 yards.

From the Sig sight pusher instructions, sights are set at 25 yards. At 7 yards, 21', your bullet trajectory is still on a rise, and may shoot very slightly low. Make sure you are holding exactly "point
of aim, point of impact." for me it is easy to get a little low and go towards a 6 o'clock sight picture. Use a bench rest to determine the exact impact point. If it is only slightly low, and you want that distance for a dead on aim, then the suggestion to sand the front sight down would be a decent way to get there. Changing sights shouldn't be necessary, that gun made it this far with those sights.
