Looking for an inexpensive .22 revolver as a trail gun. Is the Charter Arms Pathfinder .22 revolver CA compliant?

Don't know about that one. But how about a Heritage Rough Rider with a 22 WMR conversion cylinder? I picked one up for $200.

I've had one of these for a year or so but without the WMR extra cylinder.

Have 400-500 rnds through it and always worked perfectly.

I did some extensive shooting at the range with the RR yesterday. It was just loading it and firing it as fast as possible while still actually aim at the target. The gun warmed up after 30 rounds or so. I loaded 5 rounds at a time so that would be 6 cylinders (old habit with all SA revolvers).

I noticed Remington Bucket O' Bullets had noticeable ejection problems after the gun warmed up. Some of the cases were stuck in the cylinder. One took considerable amount of force to punch it out. These also seem to expand enough to make the cylinder feel a bit "sticky."

The Federal 550 round bulk pack was perfect though. Not a single sticky case at all even after the gun warmed up.

The gun is fairly accurate. Then again I'm a lousy shot so...

I have a conversion cylinder but no 22 WMR ammo to test.

Nope. The Charter Arms is not CA compliant (or I should say, it is not on the list). If you are looking for a cheap DA revo, I would recommend the Taurus M94. I have seen it on sale at Turner's for $299 + fees. Reliable, but has a very heavy DA trigger pull. SA is OK though. If a cheap S/A is what you are looking for, I will echo the thoughts of others in that the Heritage RR is going to be tough to beat for the $$$. I have also seen these on sale (the 22LR only model six shooter) for $129 + fees at Turners. I have had both of the aforementioned guns and was happy with them for their intended purpose.
