    got a smith 629 3inch

Any info on it? I think it was a -6. Ser#awf6xxx. So much for sleeping in the next ten days! No lock and the firing pin is on the hammer.

I have a 3 inch. It's a real boomer. If you get the hogues for the x frame they fit the same as the n franes ones but are a bit thicker around the back. Strongly reccomend.

You should have a lot of fun shooting that.

My 3 inch .44 mag is an Astra and it's a great shooter but I'd like to replace it with a Smith. My 629 is a 6 1/2"
People don't like to be meddled with. We tell them what to do, what to think, don't run, don't walk. We're in their homes and in their heads and we haven't the right. We're meddlesome.

-5's should have been the last one without a lock. Are you sure its not a -4 or older. Either way, you are going to have a big blast with that on. I know a .44mag in 4" is a real blast, like volley ball sized with a full charge of H110.

The 629-4 is the last one with the hammer mounted firing pin if I'm not mistaken. I have a 3" 629-4 and its one of my favorite handguns for all around use.

Totally understandable Those -#'s aren't the easiest things to read either. Congrats on your new revolver, hope you enjoy it!

I can't add any info... I just want to say congrats! And I look forward to pics and a range report when available.

I will be doing the paperwork on a Model 29-2 in 8-3/8" in a few days (had to wait for the gun to clear the 30-day check on consignment guns) and I am excited. I already have some .44 mag ammo waiting for it That means you will have yours before I get to pick mine up.

                  Congrats again and enjoy it.

My buddy has something Smith called 'The Trailboss'

A 629 with 3" ported barrel. A handful to say the least.

Quite accurate when in the hands of an experienced shooter. I developed a wicked flinch after a cylinder full.

You could always shoot .44 special in that revolver.
