    WW1 S&W M1917

Found one for sale. Anyone know how rare, sought after, collectible they are? any idea on a value?

Very collectable especially in nice condition. What kind of price?
Next to me in the blackness lay my oiled blue steel beauty. The greatest Christmas gift I had ever received, or would ever receive. Gradually, I drifted off to sleep, pringing ducks on the wing and getting off spectacular hip shots.

Over 160,000 were made so its not "rare" I have seen bubba molested examples go for as little as $350 and nice original finish with original grip examples go for $750-$950. If you find a pristine one then it could go for considerably more. Commercial models also bring more than made for the US Army models. A picture says a thousand words.

They are fine revolvers---rugged fixed sighted N frames that shoot .45ACP and .45AR. Like a Model 10 on steroids. I've had the opportunity to shoot them and it's a revolver worthy of a spot near the top of one's bucket list.
The S&W 1917s are friendlier than the Colts---you can shoot .45ACP without the clips in all the S&Ws. Many of the Colt cylinders are straight drilled and if you try to load an ACP without the clip they'll drop straight through to the ground.
Very embarrassing! Don't ask how I know.

kurac nailed it, I have seen bubba abused ones for $350 and the Brazilian ones from 1937, unabused at $700. A US military $1000 +/- and a nice commercial model more.

Aren't you not supposed to use Paypal for gun related purchases anyway?
