    Handgun recomendations for CCW?

I'm hoping to enjoy my new freedom to obtain a CCW and want some recommendations for a handgun. I currently have a Ruger P89 that I love but want something a tad smaller for CCW. Any recommendations?

    Guess right now everyone wants:
380: Glock 42, LCP, or Kahr
    9mm: Shield, XDs, Glock 26,
    40S&W: Shield, Glock 27
    45acp: XDs, Glock 30sf, Glock 30s, Glock 36

For compact size Glock 19, m&pc, uspc, and sig p229 is very popular.

For IWB carry, the G19/23/32 is tough to beat. The Hk P2000 also carries well.

Kahr P9 is a fantastic polymer single stack 9mm, borders on compact and sub compact.

S&W j-frame is a very popular choice if you choose to pocket carry. Other popular pocket handguns would be the Kahr PM9,or Ruger LCP/LCR

May sound odd but a heavy 1911 carries very well in the full size Government length as IWB. The flat profile and long length offers fantastic stability when carries IWB. Maybe find an alloy frame 1911.

I carry either a Glock 19 or 26 but 90% of the time I have my 19 IWB at 3:15.

Plenty of choices out there. My current two preferred CCW pistols are the Kahr CM9 for deep concealment (either pocket or IWB) and the G27 when I feel the need for a little more "somethin' somethin'".

                      Been LTC'ing for 11 years...,

I have 7 guns on my LTC...

I carry one 100% of the time... S&W 340PD .357 mag This one is Titanium, weighs 12 oz. unloaded. My 24/7/365 ankle gun... I never, NEVER leave home without it.

The others ranging from Kimber 1911's to Glock 36 & 30, and a SA Uberti Thunderer... all of the secondary ones listed here. The Kimbers and Glocks... I carry maybe 10 to 20% of the time.

The Uberti Thunderer is a 3.50" SA .45LC... I have it on my LTC because it's just sooooo cool. I've carried this one very rare, but I do take it ever now and then

When you LTC, you will find the smaller lighter-weight is KING...!!!

Very hard to beat Shield or XDs with Desantis mini holster.

XDS 9mm with Old faithful Hostler. The hostler has 30 days money back guaranteed if you don't like it, and you get to keep the hostler. You can't beat that kind of deal for $40 IWB.

By the way, I see you are from SF, aren't jumping on this a bit pre-mature? With any luck, the 9th district court decision will be put on hold and more legal battle would ensue for at least a year or more.

Carry the biggest gun that you can conceal and effectively hit your target.

I have no problem with a full size at all.
