Does anyone know of any gun shops in socal that have an m&p shield or any off roster guns.. my brother will be back from the army and said he will buy one and ppt it to me. Thanks!

If they have off-roster guns, it's because they are selling guns that are: Used guns, on consignment.
Single-Action revolvers of a certain barrel length, and guns that are single-shot only (or SSE), technically are NOT "off-roster" guns because they were never applicable to the roster in the first place.
See how that works?

Even if he was exempt, buying it with the intent to PPT to you is a federal crime. That may change in June, but that's how it is for now.Never initiate force against another. No. That is not a straw purchase. He is not buying it for someone who is prohibited. He is buying it, doing the 4473/forms, etc. in his name.
Then, at some later time he is selling it by way of PPT, with 4473 and forms to a person who is not prohibited.
And in some other states, even where a PPT by way of 4473 and documentation is NOT required, it is STILL not a straw-man purchase to then FTF sell it to a person who is not prohibited.
