    P228 SSE Questions

Hello, long time lurker, first time poster.

I'd really like to get a Sig P228 but since it has fallen off the roster, my options are limited. Since finding one locally is next to impossible, I have looked into doing a SSE through my FFL. The FFL I am wanting to do the transfer does not have P228 specific barrel/magblock, but they do have P229 9mm. For those with firsthand experience:

    1) Will a P229 9mm barrel work in a P228?
    2) Are there any other issues I am not thinking of? Do the magblocks used for SSE work in both?

I wanted to try and get confirmation from someone who has done this before. I don't want to get into a situation where the SSE wont work and the seller will not take the pistol back.

I have checked with the FFL and they said they are fairly confident it will work but are not 100% sure.

    Thanks for any advise!

PS: I searched but could not find anything definitive.

Why not get a Sig M11-A1? It's basically a Sig 228 with a SRT trigger..You can get this from Peter MPARMS.COM...I bought my sig 229 scorpion from him..He has a Sig 229 scorpion right now!...He does SSE on Sigs and Glocks.

        The M11A1 is my backup.

I am interested in the original P228s, mostly for historical and collector reasons (and I don't like the engraving on the M11A1 ), but if I can't get a real one I will settle for the M11A1.

Has anyone SSEd a real P228?

A++++ mparms are the best! I still have a number of SIGs to pick up from there! Hopefully, many more items.

I am also considering a M11 style, but as SIGs go, I prefer the feel and size of the 220-226 style most.

I also have the http://www.mparms.com/Sig-Sauer-MK25-Desert_p_400.html from mparms.

For something a bit smaller, the Glock 19 feels very nice too

Email them and Sign up on the waiting list. They can also get other SIGs etc. I recently received a pdf list of several nice SIGs models they can get.

At least I get a SIG lifetime warranty buying from mparms on new guns. But no warranty if I find an old used 228 from anyone else. So I am a bit hesitant on buying the older guns. Good luck

I wrote the following comparison for the Firearms Insider group a few months ago. I really like the M11-A1 even more than the P228.

Direct Action Solutions in Solana Beach has the M11-A1.

If you ever want to shoot it drop me a PM.

As for the P228, they pop up on the Marketplace pretty often, that is your best bet for a P228.

                        AFAIK...
No. The internal dimensions of slide of the P229 differ from the P228, which prevents a P229 barrel fitting into the slide of the P228.

Wait for a real west German 228. Cheaper and better than the new ones. I have a one from 1989 and it's much nicer than my newer 226.

                            FTW!!!

If I'm not mistaken sig discontinued the 228's a while ago. If you can find a west German model jump on it.

They're not liberals, they're leftists. Please don't use the former for the latter. Liberals are Locke, Jefferson, Burke, Hayek. Leftists are progressives, Prussian state-socialists, fascists. Liberals stand against the state and unequivocally support liberty. Leftists support state tyranny.

Check with Dave at Cal Custom Guns in Fallbrook. I bought a NIB P228 about a year ago and he had two more at the time. They were consignment guns from a private collection. Great gun and well worth the trouble of finding one.

Google them for the phone number.
