    longer 1911 grip screws source?

I've got some custom 1911 grips I'd like to use, but standard screws aren't long enough to reach the bushings. The grip holes can not be sunk anymore.

Does anyone know where I might be able to purchase some? I'd even be ok with finding some that I'd have to cut down (I only need an extra 1\8th of an inch).

Purchase the screws at hardware store and use a dremel to grid down to the length you like

      So wrong...

You might cite a hardware store that carries grip screws...

Here's the spec on a standard grip screw...

      Grip screw type/designation:
      0.150 - 50 UNS - 2A

      Shaft diameter:
      .150

      Shaft length:
      .255

      Thread pitch:
      50 threads per inch.

      Head Diameter:
      .275

      Nomenclature:

"50 UNS" = 50 threads per inch, Unified National Special thread profile.

OP, see what you can find at Brownells.

Just to rule out the obvious, and no offense intended, your pistol doesn't have slim bushings for slim grips on it currently correct?

The thread for 1911 grip screws is usually listed as .150x50 or .150-50 UNS-2A with .255 being standard length as -hanko stated. Good luck.

Yep, hardware stores in my area certainly don't carry anything close.

Color me retarded, but I'm not finding any grip screws that are any longer than the standard length.

                  Try Grainger's with Hanko's info!!!

Ace Hardware generally has a pretty good selection of screws.

Bay Bolt in Oakland might be able to help you.

Google bolt and screw shops, give them the info Hanko provided, should be GTG.
