    STI forged frame

I'm really wanting to get a sti forged frame to start a build.

Will sti ship to a ca ffl?

If no, will brownells ship to a ca ffl?

Or is the sti frame just not legal in ca at all?

If that's the case, are any frames legal in ca? Where do I source one?

Maybe 80% is the only option, I'm having trouble finding those as well.

    Thanks,
    Rich
What part of "shall not infringe" do they not understand?

To clarify, an actual 1911, not 2011

You can get frames in California, but you have to go through the SSE process to get one. Talk to your local dealer that does SSEs and see what they can do for you.

It's not illegal to have a frame. The problem is there's no legal way for an FFL to sell you a frame if you're not exempt from the DOJ roster. You can't just get a frame, even through SSE. To use the SSE process, the gun will still have to be a functional single shot. It's not like having a functional 1911 and just adding a longer barrel and blocking the magazine well. Only way you're getting a raw frame in CA is if it's already here and you do a PPT. Now I could be wrong and there's an FFL willing to slap on all the parts necessary to make it functional and then remove those parts after you take possession, but I'm not aware of any that are doing that right now.

          Unfortunately... This is NOT correct:

Thanks to this forum, I was aware of this issue prior to moving to this Great State, so I brought one in with me...
Looking forward to building it up this summer. Good luck on your search & PPT. I see them occasionally in the classifieds,
so they're out there... but be ready to jump!
