    New Glock Owner

Hi everyone. I just picked up a used Glock 19 here in the market place. I've always been hesitant in purchasing a Glock because i still think they are some what ugly, but after doing much research and reading reviews I picked this one up.

I wanted a smaller pistol that I hope to one day carry and shoot IDPA with. One thing I was really looking for was something with a comfortable grip in 9mm. I purchased a SP2022(.40) a few years ago and I can honestly say its a great gun but I hate the grip and I never want to make that mistake again. Maybe I am spoiled because my USP(.45) fits my hand perfectly but the SP2022 is just not for my hand. The Glock wasnt perfect but it felt really really good. I have not taken it to the range yet but as far as trigger I took my buds G17 to the range and the trigger was diffren't but it just took a little getting used to and it was just fine. The pistol was stippled but that is something I wanted to do either way, so 85% was already done, I just need to take care of the other 15%

I'm really excited to get acquainted with my new pistol. Glock has a great reputation and I hope mine lives up to that standard.

Quick Question. I posted a pic of the magwell. Is there supposed to be a gap behind the magwell? Or is it missing an insert?

Congratulations josh250! I have a Glock 19 RTF2. Yes there is gap and yes you can plug it too if desired. I believe the gap is for you to be able to remove the magazine in case of serious malfunction. Happy shooting!

Nice score! Lookin to pick up one of those also to keep the 26 company. Yeah just get a plug for that gap. Pearce makes some (same company that makes grip extensions).

Thanks Leon, that's actually really interesting I would have never figured. I did see some really cool inserts online though.

Awesome, how do you like your 26? I was seriously considering one but my hands are fairly large.

The 26 is not too bad with Pearce grip extensions. That's why I want the 19 also for a little bigger grip. Have some 19 mags already and they fit and feel fine in the 26 with the XGrip extensions. With some practice, I'm fairly accurate with the baby Glock. I'm sure yours will serve you well.

                  I added this to mine.

Congrats on the G19. I've had zero issues with mine over the past 9 years. If you look up Glock Grip/Magwell plugs, you'll find various types to choose from or just leave it open.

My understanding the hole is for a lanyard attachment.

The Gap industry magazine floorplates have worked pretty good for me, been using them for a few years on my G26. I haven't tried the Pearce extensions, but ill probably grab some to give them a try.

                        OP, congrats on the glock!

Do not plug the hole. I just had a frame crack because of a plug.

                              Congrats!

Since you expressed an interest in IDPA, make yourself aware of the rules regarding upgrades / customization.
E.g., stippling the grip bumps you out of SSP and into ESP class. Also, certain backstrap plugs are legal, not all.

Some competition shooters feel the plug assists with faster, more reliable magazine changes.
