Anyone have any experience or know anyone who sold more than five handguns in a year? Just curious because I'm thinning my collection due to financial reasons and want to make sure I don't get in trouble. Thanks!

Less than 6, so no more than 5."Bye Felicia!" - Said by me, as I looked at Kalfornia in my rearview for the last time, 9/22/17.

I support gun control.....if there's a gun around, I want to be in control of it!

And the answer about 'penalty' probably depends on whether the trial finds you guilty of PC 26500The part where you have asked a question refers to26500. (a) No person shall sell, lease, or transfer firearms unless the person has been issued a license pursuant to Article 1 (commencing with Section 26700) and Article 2 (commencing with Section 26800) of Chapter 2.
(b) Any person violating this article is guilty of a misdemeanor.ATF tells us that one engaged in the business may be described as26520. (a) Section 26500 does not apply to the infrequent sale, lease, or transfer of firearms.
(b) As used in this section, “infrequent” has the meaning provided in Section 16730.
...
16730. (a) As used in Section 31815 and in Division 6 (commencing with Section 26500) of Title 4, “infrequent” means:
(1) For handguns, less than six transactions per calendar year.
(2) For firearms other than handguns, occasional and without regularity.
(b) As used in Section 27900, the term “infrequent” shall not be construed to prohibit different local chapters of the same nonprofit corporation from conducting auctions or similar events, provided the individual local chapter conducts the auctions or similar events infrequently. It is the intent of the Legislature that different local chapters, representing different localities, be entitled to invoke the exemption created by Section 27900, notwithstanding the frequency with which other chapters of the same nonprofit corporation may conduct auctions or similar events.
(c) As used in this section, “transaction” means a single sale, lease, or transfer of any number of handguns.I don't see California's version of that, but since licensed CA firearms dealers are also FFLs, it's a reasonable guess that CA means much the same thing.... a person who devotes time, attention, and labor to engaging in such activity as a regular course of trade or business with the principal objective of livelihood and profit, ...Last edited by Librarian; 02-05-2014, 6:06 PM.ARCHIVED Calguns Foundation Wiki here: http://web.archive.org/web/201908310...itle=Main_Page
Frozen in 2015, it is falling out of date and I can no longer edit the content. But much of it is still good!Comment

I'm sure this law is actually broken often. But overlooked due to the eminence PPT in this state. I would guess there are red flags that set the wheels in motion, like the straw sells out of SAC. But the everyday gun enthusiast that sells seven pistols in a year with no real rime or reason is probably not even looked at.
Now I'm not saying go out and sell 8 or 9 handguns and don't worry about it. But I doubt you'll find anyone that's been arrested and prosecuted for selling 6 handguns in a year.Im a warmonger baby, I got blood in my eyes and I'm looking at you.Comment

Seller's remorse.Penalty for selling more than five handguns per year?
Depression, from missing their velvety royal blue or satiny stainless caress.
Nightmares of your guns being left abandoned to rust in the back of a damp and dank safe, never cleaning or oiling them, left neglected by some careless new owner who disregards them callously as if they were so much trash, like they were the Velveteen Rabbit.
Wondering in perpetuity if you will ever find another one like it, once you realize no way in hell the person you sold it to will ever sell it back to you.
A hole in your heart instead, of a an X-ring where the hole used to be.
And more.
Don't do it. Not even once.-----------------------------------------------

Selling guns that one owns? That's a concept I don't quite understand.NRA Life Member since 1990
They're not liberals, they're leftists. Please don't use the former for the latter. Liberals are Locke, Jefferson, Burke, Hayek. Leftists are progressives, Prussian state-socialists, fascists. Liberals stand against the state and unequivocally support liberty. Leftists support state tyranny.

At Turners in Reseda somebody, for what ever reason is selling a Luger collection. BTW, 14 is still available.
I thought it was about buying handguns and how many you can buy monthly and yearly. Not how many somebody sells

The intent of the law is to prevent folks from becoming unlicensed dealers in guns. Not to stop a guy from selling off his collection or his dead uncles' guns, or a widow from selling the spouse's guns, etc. The bits of the law quoted above make that clear imho.
Plenty of fellas around who buy sell and trade around.

And they have been in the case since about October 2012 - not a single one has sold since that time. Nice guns, just all and each one are priced about $400 to $600 or so higher than actual value. I have seen and held a few of those in person.
I get the impression it might be the collection of someone that actually works at the store.-----------------------------------------------
