    Guncrafter Industry .50 GI Review

Well my buddy Centermass has a friend that had access to a Guncrafter Industries .50 Gi Model No 2. http://www.guncrafterindustries.com

We got to run some test fire this weekend at Evans Gunworks all I can say is "I WANT ONE!!!!!'I have wanted to shoot one of these since I read about it. This is a beautiful thing to shoot. I thought it would have massive recoil, man was I wrong. It was accurate and very controllable.

Here is a video of me shooting the GI... (33 Megs)

This gun was a complete pleasure to shoot. I am glad I got the chance. The only downfall.....it list for about $3,000.00. I hope these get mass produced and come down in price, but for now, each gun is custom made. If I had the cash....this would be on my hip every day!

Those look great. Only thing I am concerned with are the ammo choices.

I was thinking the same, is there anything around with the Gi50 compared to the .45ACP in ballistic gel and Chronograph and so on, like a side by side measure up of the two.
[[ why is it on my screen I'm not showing up on the bottom, why am I showing as post 4? I'm replying with VeryCoolCat... is it just my PC or whats going on?]]

In order for this cartridge and gun combo to survive a large company like Springfield Armory, Kimber, or Smith and Wesson needs to come out with a version costing @ $1000. And ammo companies like Federal, Winchester, Speer etc needs to start producing the rounds.

Is there any question the general shooting public would want one? I know I do. Its not just a .45 and under cartridge with lots of FPS. We have plenty of those already. What makes this attractive (similar reason .45 is so popular) is the fact its an even fatter bigger chunk of lead in a (reportedly) very shootable package.

If the big companies will back it they can make money.

            So Basically

From what I see its basically its a .45 with a larger load

Since I am a RSO and instructor, he lets me rent out the "otherside" of the range. I can set up a CALGUNS Tactical shoot

Still a rich mans gun at this point, but sure would like to have one. I'd like to see the 50GI or similar cartridge in a GLOCK. Just need a company to make the ammo.

I am a member at Evan's range... was there today shooting my P226ST. They put new floors in, which look nice, although if you collect your brass for reloading, the brass is harder to see against the new floor

I'm usually there at least once per week shooting, usually Thursday or Saturday late afternoon.

Yeah, I have to agree with Red Flag... very controllable and accurate. I went to the range thinking this thing would have a heavy recoil and it didn't. It was very easy to shoot all 10 ring without much effort. It is very comparable to a .45 ACP. From what I understand, the ammo manufacturer has a hotter round available that might be a little more potent, but all in all, I think this will always be comparable to a .45 in recoil.

I have to go along with Red Flag in saying that if I could afford this gun, I would also have one in my collection. Very well made and impressive with a nice balanced feel in your hand.

So bottom line is, if you have money to spend, this would be a fun addition to your collection!

I called the folks over at GI and they confirmed... Goatee is required!

The .50AE is a totally different animal- much longer in length and double (or more!) the energy of the G.I.

Since the AE uses the same case head diameter as a .44 magnum, I doubt even shortened AE cases would work in the GI.

I usually hit there every other week, late Saturday. It's funny we've all probably shot next to eachother and haven't even known it. Is Chris still there or did they let him have a week or two off before he ships back out to the sand box for another year of service?
