Looking for any input on some universel tactical holsters that will fit full size 9mm or 45 cal pistols with light attached. I have a couple of safariland holsters which are weapon specific and I like the brand, well made and good retention but rather then buying several other holsters for each individual pistol do you guys have any recommendations on a universel model that will work with multiple guns?

I guess you could go with something like this:

Have a holster similar to that for my Steyr M40, had to go the universal route since no-one made a holster for my gun and light combo. Recently gave up using it though, had a local guy that makes kydex holsters melt some plastic to fit my stuff.I guess you could go with something like this:

With holsters I always recommend custom built fit to you or your weapon(s). I've used Jerry from Ares Armor (Oceanside) a couple of times. He will tailor make gear to fit my equipment. I also recently met another person who runs (Off The Grid Concepts) located in OC that makes decent holsters as well. I saw him make a couple for an instructor. Both make holsters that are on par with the big names out there. In fact most custom kydex folks make holsters that are on par with what is out on the market, the bang for your buck comes from the holster being custom.Comment

How about this? A wrap-around universal..

I agree but figured I would get some input to see if there were any universel rigs out there that could accomodate 3 or 4 pistols rather then dropping $95 each of so X4.Comment

RTI G-Code. I think they can custom make holsters for specific pistol+light combos.Have a good day!Comment

For universal, I think you'll be stuck with nylon holsters. They don't all suck, they are basically a stiff rectangular bag, which can work.
What is the use of the holster? Just generally carrying a gun around on your 400 acres, or going to some competition where you need to carry a gun around but not need to draw quickly from it?==================

Remember to dial 1 before 911.
Forget about stopping power. If you can't hit it, you can't stop it.
There. Are. Four. Lights!Comment

Not competition but to be able to use it in training classes. Mainly as a secondary weapon at carbine training. I currently run my HK 45 with light in a Safari Land drop holster which I have used for years. Also have one for my Beretta 92A1 which I train with also. Picking up a FNX 45 now and considering adding another 9mm (M&P or Sig) at some point also.
Figure since I train with several different AR type/configured rifles, I would like to change up and practice with my different handguns also at times also but thought there might be easier cheaper route then just keep buying gun specific holsters at $95 a pop. Seemed like it would be nice to get used to the feel and function of just one holster (albeit with different pistols) rather then switching out when different guns are used.
Doesn't seem to be much offering in the universel type that would still work well in tactical training environment.Comment
