    shield 40s&w

Does anyone here have shield 40cal?
I have shield 9mm and xds 9mm. I am thinking about adding 40cal to my collection, but
Want to hear someone who have or shoot 40cal. I am not a big fan of 40, but I think 40cal single stack gun can come useful for hiking purpose.

    Thank you

I'm a big fan of .40, but not in a BUG type gun like the shield. I have a Glock 27 but even though it is a sub-compact it is still a robust large body gun. Just a short barrel and grip. My current BUG is a PM9, I would not want a PM40.
I have always felt the internet has blown the recoil of the .40 way out of proportion. But that said a .40 in a tiny gun could be a handful. But if you shoot a lot it will be far less of an issue. Most with recoil problems generally shoot less then a hundred rounds per month.

A friend of mine has a Shield .40 and it shoots quite well. Recoil wasn't bad, I thought. I like something with a few more rounds for hiking, though.

Shot my friend Shield in 40. I have two words for you. Very snappy.

I have a 40 shield and a Glock 27 I can't tell that much difference in recoil between the two , but I am not that recoil sensitive , the shield carry's much better

I have a 40sw shield and could not believe how little the recoil was. Everywhere I read they made it seem like a hand canon. Maybe the 9mm is easier, I have not shot one, but if you shoot other 40s you might be surprised. My other 40sw is a sig229 with a flashlight and I shoot better with it but honestly the recoil on the shield feels about the same. I also love the grip of it so maybe it just fits my hand really well.

I'm with Stormvet on thoughts regarding .40... really barely notice the recoil difference between it and 9mm anymore... but I've shot a lot of .40.

Can't comment on the Shield (or XDs), but I find a Glock 27 still fairly manageable.

Glock 33 (.357sig) on the other hand I find a bit too snappy for a subcompact, which I'd imagine would feel similar to shooting .40 from a Shield or XDs..
