S&W 686-No Dash Price Check

Can I get a California price check on a S&W 686-no dash 6"?

The pistol does not have the original grips, box or papers. It has not gone in for the M stamp recall, but I'm not sure if that affects the price. It has the orange/red ramp front sight. The trigger feels as if it has had work (it really feels amazing). The condition is 98% or better. Serial # puts it in at 1984.

Your professional opinion is appreciated.

say 850 and you pay the fees...you can make out for that buying online out of state and shipping to an ffl who does a single action conversion for you..

paying over 1000 ftf here in Ca is pushing it

I just called S&W and they have no record the of pistol ever coming to them for warranty work or repairs.

With that said, should I send it in for the M stamp recall or leave as is? After 30 years it would have shown to be defective by now.

I got a four inch 686, with the M stamp at a LGS for $699, about 4 months ago.
Nice condition, no box or papers
$1000 seems rather high to me.

Ya, these prices mentioned are too high.
3 years ago I paid $450 for a no dash 586 in 99% condition. Also a 1984 I believe.

I did get a good deal but $1000 is ridiculous.

And yes, definitely send it in for repair. Mine would jam with full powdered 357mag loads. The primers would back out very slightly creating a jam. It was very hard to get loose. I sent it in and S&W did the "M" mod to it and now it works perfectly.

And it probably hasn't had any trigger work done. That's how they use to make triggers in the good old days.

Same here, I think $1,000 is a bit high. I tend to overpay for a gun that I really want, but I still don't think I will pay $1,000 for a no dash 686 no matter how much I like it.

FWIW, I sold a 686-4 4" in 90+% condition with brand new wood medallion grips for $650 last year, which I thought to be a fair price. I could not have been off by 50% on the value, could I?

1,000 it way high. Id be comfortable paying 650 low end 750 high end. I had a 586 no dash M stamp. Miss that thing

I bought my first 686 4" no dash (Pachmyer grips, no originals) around 10 years ago for $200, and sold it like an idiot a year and a half ago for about $350. I missed it so i finally found a 686 6" no dash last year for $420 with stock target grips. Worked out nicely 'cause now I'm having it made into a 5" which is I think the perfect length. In any case, I can't see $1000 of value in it when there are guns around for under $500.
