First check the depth of the holes versus the length of the ejector legs.
Shorten legs if needed.
If the ejector won't go all the way down even though the leg lengths / hole depths are OK, then most likely the legs on the ejector are not the same distance apart as their holes.
Remove material from the front or back of the rear leg as needed until the ejector sits flush on the frame.

The ejector retainer cross pin is not used by every maker these days.
The ejector won't come out with the slide on, so it's only during maintenance with the slide off that it could come out.
A dab of blue Loctite will hold it in place while still allowing removal later.

When I built my 1911, I used a commander ejector which has a long extended front part / edge than the standard government one.
In my initial test firing, I removed the ejector several times as I filed the front edge shorter to time the ejection to be as early as possible for best reliability.

So, I suggest you fit the extractor but don't pin or Loctite it until you have the gun running right.

Thanks for the information. I saw the pin in my parts bag, saw a post on another thread that talked about the hole for the pin also. Then I noticed that my frame didn't have that hole and I got concerned.
