    RIA tactical sights

I was wondering what kind of sights do people with the RIA 1911 use or upgrade too. i have a tactical but the sights on them i hate, they are the older one blacked out front and rear. I want to change them to something i can use at the range or maybe get into competition shooting. I just want advice what i can change them too. Thank you

Be aware that although the Tactical's sights look like Novak sights, the dovetail dimensions are different and you will have to fit any replacement sights. Unless RIA has changed their installation practice, the rear sight is a very tight fit in the dovetail.

You can get sights from Dawson Precision, www.dawsonprecision.com or get some toy model paints and add your own dots with a toothpick.

Just replace front with Fiber optic. Or Call armscor
        for part number.

          Fusion

IIRC, you buy Novak style rear sights and then file to fit.

As mentioned, Dawson Precision makes a F/O front sight that works with the stock read sight.

The rear isn't that bad, but the front is just a large black block. I tried nail polish, liquid paper, etc, etc. I finally bought the Dawson F/O, but have yet to install it.

I put two coats of white modeling paint on the front sight only. Left the rear sight black. Quick to pick up the front sight and cheap to boot. Cost me less than $2. That being said I will purchase a front night sight some time this year.

According to the Rock forum on 1911forums.com the latest Rocks are now standard Novak cut - but I don't know the change over serials. I'd check with Armscor in Pahrump.

I made a post with same question earlier. My gun is with ria now so im torn between paying for sights and paying labor to have then installed or trying to paint it.

Anyone who added a front fiber optic only willing to take and post a pic of how the sight looks from rear to front.

Well painting it is like 2 bucks to try. Use liquid paper or "white out" to paint it white then Experiment by coloring it with a red sharpie over the whiteout if you don't like white.

If its still not good s ought, get the f/o sights.
