Sig P220's recoil spring?

I was cleaning my newly acquired .45 getting it ready for this weekend and noticed that the recoil spring on both ends are tight when putting it back on the guiding rod. Unlike P226 9mm and .40 s&w, one end is tight and the other is loose.
Can anyone tell me if P220 is not picky regarding which end of recoil spring goes first on the guide rod? Thanks.

Did they change it? 220s always had the tapered springs... Mine does. My brother's does...

The 220 spring is slightly tapered but it does fit tight onto the rod. Wide end goes forward but honestly, it's not picky. I've never ever had an issue with it even when I don't pay attention to which end goes which direction.

The tight end of the spring should feed onto the guide rod first, and the loose end should be at the bottom. For some reason the P220 springs seem to fit tighter onto the guide rod than any of my other Sigs. It won't hurt you gun if you have it installed the wrong way.

The difference between P226's and P220's recoil springs are night and day. I can easily tell the tighter end on P226 but the P220 seems like the same size on both ends.

If you can't tell I wouldn't worry about it. Sometimes you can still see the paint used to color code the spring. If you can it should go color end first.

The end with the color is NOT an indicator of the small end. The springs all get lined up and shot with a paint gun regardless of which end is the small one.

I have several Sigs and the short end has always been the colored end. I assumed that was by design.

Would you guys say that P220 recoil spring is a little longer (Have to push it hard to get it in the slide) than P226 .40 s&w to give it more tension?

My 220s spring small end is very snug on the guide rod.

The 220 spring is higher tension than the 226. I even replaced it with a tighter aftermarket spring that helped performance. It's a heavy slide
