I have a P220 Combat being shipped to my LGS. I have rented the gun multiple times at the range and am excited to be getting my own. One thing I am on the fence about are the tan / FDE grips. Has anyone put any different grips on their combat that looked good? Sig store has black aluminum grips I like, but $168 is an expensive gamble. Thanks for the any recommendations.

I hate polymer grips so took the FDEs off and replaced with black Hogue wrap arounds with hex screws. Still looks awesome and easier to manage too"Those who fear your guns do so because they know they are guilty of things for which they should be shot" -
My girlfriend bought me a pair of crimson trace grips for my sig p226 combat and they look great I'm sure they have em for the p220.

I have seen plain, black, plastic (standard P220) grips on a P220 Combat, and IMO it's a big improvement. I know when I contemplated buying a P220 Combat, I planned on dumping the FDE grips first thing.
FYI, should you decide to bite the bullet and cough up the cash for the Aluminum grips, you will want to use some Loc-Tite or clear nail polish to secure the grip screws in better. It's just a fact of life that grip screws like to back out on aluminum grips.
You also might want to wander over to SIG Forum and post a WTB for P220 aluminum grips. I bought the old style SIG Factory aluminum grips for a P226 and a P229 that way, and got them cheaper (and a whole lot faster) than I could get them from SIG. You can probably also get those same aluminum grips you're looking at directly from Hogue. Again, you'd have them way faster than if you order from SIG.
Or go cheap, and just grab a set of standard P220 grips in black from Top Gun Supply.Comment

I know to each their own, but I can't imagine why anyone who takes gloves off would want aluminum grips on any gun. OP, crimson trace grips for the 220 are about as perfect feeling as they get in my opinion. Every 220 combat I've seen, the stock grips aren't molded correctly and there's usually gaps in the grips in the palm of the grip. Very shoddy for such an expensive gun.Comment
