    Best ammo for sig 220?

I'm about to aquire my first 220. I know a lot of you have them and a have most likely done the work to figure out what ammo is the most accurate and reliable in the gun. What is it and where do you buy it? Also, is the sig able to shoot the hotter +P rounds that corbon offers? Thanks for the advise.

If you're getting the ST or the newer ones with a milled slide, hot ammos are not a problem. If yours is the older stamped slide, especially before the frame upgrade, then shoot +Ps sparingly.

Pretty much any ammo is reliable, the Sig is great for that... It's not picky about reloads, or any brand I've run into.

I'm honestly not accurate enough with it, -as accurate as the P220 is by nature; to be able to say which ammo is more accurate than such and such.

I believe its the older model so I'll take it easy on it. Thanks for the help. I'm new enough to not be very accurate either so I'll buy what I can for now and work on my own accuracy first. My brother has a 220 so I know what a pleasure the gun is to shoot. I'll probably start with reloads myself. I just wanted to make sure I was feeding the gun what it likes. Thank you.

Nope, newer model. +P here I come. Is the speer lawman decent ammo? I just asked for reloadable brass ammo.

I have noticed that the additional recoil of a +P load is not worth the performance gain IMO. In addition to the additional wear and tear on your gun.

Shoot them both, see if it makes a difference for you.

The Sig 220 is a fine pisol.
Mine has eaten up anything I have fed it. Hardball, light target loads, many different shapes and sizes of hollow points, cast lead simi-watcutter, millitary surplus, and Plus P ammo.
I have not tried Wolf steel case in it, though I'm sure it could handle it.
It is the most reliable .45acp pistol I have ever owned.
Have not shot much Plus P's as I don't think the extra power would be needed in a defensive situation.

Agree with the above, i have a older 220 and it eats everything even wolf FMJ works great in mine. So no worries about its diet, feed it whatever you want. While i have used +P, i find it not worth it in most instances. Stick with standard loads for most applications.

I'm more just looking forward to the +Ps for the little extra bang. I don't intend to run it all the time or for the extra performance. I was looking on cheaperthandirt today and saw that some manufacturer is producing +P ?67 grain .45 ammo. It was supposed to produce velocities of over 2000fps. I found this info particularly interesting since my other new toy is a fiveseven...

It should feed just about anything. I would stay clear of Wolf though.
Most any good brands should do for target practice. You should be able to use the +P stuff, but there probably isn't a big need. I don't think there's much velocity loss with the 4.4 inch barrel.

.45 ACP is what the smaller calibers want to be.

I usually steer clear of wolf ammo except for with the sks. I visited wal-mart today and cleaned them out of their winchester fmj value packs. I bought a couple other brands to try. I got the blazer brass FMJ, some remington umc JHPs, and yesterday I got some speer lawman FMJ.

As a relatively new pistol owner, I realize my biggest need is for practice. With the .45 I can afford to shoot often. I bought the FN 5-7 because I couldn't pass it up. I'm really excited about the 220 though. If it weren't for this trade I would probably have bought a XD. My brother has an older blue 220 that I've always really liked. I'm happy to now own one of my own.

Winchester White Box from Wally world is great for target practice. The Miwall reloads also work great in it. Remington Golden Saber Hollow points also feeds and shoots nicely. I recommend that you stick to bass ammo and you shouldn't have any problems. I think Blazer and Wolf (for a pistol load) is crap. Enjoy the new toy. It just sucks that you have to wait. Keep my number so we could go shooting some time.

I do still have your number. Thanks for the great pistol. I'm about to wet myself waiting for the 10 days. Thats OK though. I'll be bringing plenty of ammo next wednesday when I pick it up. I've even talked my brother and dad into coming along...
