Question re Beretta 92FS

On a side note, Beretta recommends changing the locking block every 5,000 rounds.
However, I have found that they will run 15,000+ or better before breaking. I found out the hard way.
Buy 2 to save money and keep a spare handy.

Thanks for the input gentlemen however, I'm not asking about roll marks, magazines, or locking blocks. The question remains.....is the barrel that comes with the the Model 92FS chrome lined as are the bbls on the military and commercial M9's?NRA Life Benefactor Member

Found the answer I was looking for on the Beretta website.
"The 92 series of semiautomatic pistols operates on a short recoil, delayed blowback system, which yields; faster cycle times, exceptional accuracy and greater reliability. Double/Single action provides a very safe and time proven design. High-capacity steel magazines are durable and drop-free when the magazine button is depressed, even when empty. Chrome-lined barrels provide extreme corrosion resistance, as well as ease of cleaning. Barrels also feature a deeply recessed combat muzzle crown to protect the rifling."
Once again, thanks to all that responded. The reason I was asking about the 92FS bbl is because I am buying one of the police trade-ins from J&G Sales and wanted to ensure it was chrome lined as is the bbl on my M9.NRA Life Benefactor Member

the main difference in the M9 vs the 92FS is the angle of the dust cover & the 92FS has a radiused backstrap - I always wanted the M9 over the 92FS till I was able to compare them side by side. I have large hands & short fingers, the 92 fit my hands better. the radiused backstrap may not seem like much, but it does make a difference in feel.Comment

Really ? J/ k .
My point being a true M9 might not come with a Beretta magazine. You know the lowest bidder DOD concept. Checkmate is one example. Mecgar / MPS make the stock Beretta mags and are the only ones I buy.
I bring it up because Berettas are great guns but I and many others have had issues with aftermarket mags.Last edited by orangeusa; 01-25-2014, 10:49 PM.Comment

My understanding is that Mec-Gar actually makes the "Beretta" logo 92fs/M9 magazines. I have many of both and they appear to be identical.
The M9 does differ from the 92fs in that the M9 has a one-dot sight while the 92fs has the 3 dot sight. The M9a1 has the three dot sight, oddly enough.Come and Take It!
